Push hard gently.

desk As I was mindlessly scrolling through Facebook yesterday, a photo popped up on a profile that I know very well. The photo was of a room that I know very well filled with people that I know very well. And posted on the wall was a piece of white copy paper with bold lettering that read “PUSH HARD GENTLY.”

Monday marked my one-month anniversary as the marketing director at a digital marketing agency in Southlake, Texas. At the end of January, I said goodbye to a job that I physically left back in September, but continued to do from afar. Other than my relationships that are still strong, this job was my last tie to Missouri and what seems like a totally different life than the one I have now, but that’s another story for another day.

I love my new job. It can’t be summed up in my job title; it’s some combination of SEO, marketing, branding, account management, operations, research, client communication, sales, writing/editing, troubleshooting, and so many other things that pop up in the day-to-day. My position also provides countless opportunities to lead and countless opportunities to be a confidante. Continue reading

Another new start

Another New Year’s Eve. Another year comes to a close. Another year begins. Another ending, and another new start.

Every December 31, I try to reflect, marinate on the year we’re saying goodbye to and make resolutions (aka big plans) for the coming year. I put a lot of pressure on myself to do it, and each year I’m a little disappointed. What have I accomplished? What did I actually do this year? WhatΒ must happen next year?

This year, however, I’m not feeding into the pressure.
